Honoring God

I just had the pleasure of viewing a sermon by Dr. Dollar on the theme of honoring of God.   Part of his sermon text came from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

These verses say clearly that we must honor God with our bodies. It means that whatever we do, we do to it all to honor our Father. If you clean a room, do that to the best of your ability so that you will honor your Lord. At your job, work honorably, in truth, doing all that you are able. Do not take that extra couple of minutes on a break or sneak away early because you don't punch a timeclock. Do all that the employer asks and do more than that to honor your Father. Are you a student? Tests and homework can be done to honor the Lord. Raising children or teaching them? Shine the Light of God in your life by teaching them who their Savior is and how to live for Him. In places where it is unacceptable to talk about Jesus, show the Lord through your actions and attitude.

We can honor God through all we do if only the thought comes to do so. Have you read your Bible today? That honors the Lord. Do you pray? That honors our Father. Is studying the Bible part of your life? You honor the Savior that way. Are you having a closer relationship, fellowship with the Lord? You honor Him in doing so. God is looking for people who are willing to get to know Him better. He wants an extremely close encounter with you on a daily basis. Did you know that? That, too, honors Him.

Take the time today to think about how you can honor the Lord with your life. Be diligent in all you do for Him. Make it a habit to live your life to shine the Light of God in all the faces you see. What an honor to Him for what He has done for you!! You always honor your Lord when you are a blessing to someone.

Dr. Creflo Dollar

Dr. Creflo Dollar is the founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church International based out of College Park, Georgia, and New York City.  He has a ministry centered around the theme of changing your mind with the Word of God and his scripture-centered teaching speaks to me in a deep way. Dr. Dollar's ministry has shown me that anyone trying to follow Christ must base their actions and reactions solely upon God's Word; the Holy Scriptures are a blueprint for our plan for living.  My Eternal Beloved introduced me to Dr. Dollar several months ago and I am certainly glad that she did.  She gets up early each morning at watches Joyce Meyer at 6:30 AM and then watches Dr. Dollar at 7:00 AM.  She has done this for several years and draws great inspiration from both of their ministries.  She graciously records them so that I can watch them in the evening. 

The Year of Living Like Jesus

Over the Christmas holiday, I picked up a copy of The Year of Living Like Jesus by Dr. Ed Dobson.  The title intrigued me and when I flipped through its pages I noticed that it was written in a diary format, which greatly appealed to me. 

I am more than half-way through the book and it is a wonderful read.  Dr. Dobson was inspired by A.J. Jacob's book, The Year of Living Biblically.  In his book, Dr. Dobson relates how he used the Gospels as a blueprint to living the way that Jesus lived.  He investigated eating kosher, keeping the Sabbath, not trimming the corners of his beard, and other things to replicate exactly the life that Jesus led.  Through his year-long journey, Dobson touched the lifes of others and will serve as an inspiration to others seeking to share the love of Christ with the world.

Mitzi, Andrew, and I read Psalm 91 this evening as our prayer for the new year. 

¹ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
   will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

 ² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
   my God, in whom I trust."

 ³ Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
   and from the deadly pestilence.

 ⁴ He will cover you with his feathers,
   and under his wings you will find refuge;
   his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

 ⁵ You will not fear the terror of night,
   nor the arrow that flies by day,

 ⁶ nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
   nor the plague that destroys at midday.

 ⁷ A thousand may fall at your side,
   ten thousand at your right hand,
   but it will not come near you.

 ⁸ You will only observe with your eyes
   and see the punishment of the wicked.

 ⁹ If you make the Most High your dwelling—
   even the LORD, who is my refuge-

 ¹⁰ then no harm will befall you,
   no disaster will come near your tent.

 ¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you
   to guard you in all your ways;

 ¹² they will lift you up in their hands,
   so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

 ¹³ You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
   you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

 ¹⁴ "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
   I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

 ¹⁵ He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
   I will be with him in trouble,
   I will deliver him and honor him.

 ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him
   and show him my salvation."
